Diego costa archive

Juan Mata has scored his 50th Premier League goal, becoming the fifth Spaniard to reach this milestone in the competition (also Fernando Torres, David Silva, Diego Costa and Cesc Fàbregas)
Since both Ronaldo and Messi have turned 30, and are slowly but inevitably approaching the fag ends of their respective careers, I decided to make a small comparison. No, it's not a comparison between the two, but between 10 players. Two of them are, obviously, Messi and Ronaldo. The other eight are pure centre forwards, also in their 30s, and still playing for top clubs. I'll be comparing their goalscoring record with the two legends. For this, I have taken into account EVERY single appearance made by each player, right from their first match for their first club and first international game. Then a simple calculation resulted in their goal ratios (goals scored on average in one game). NOTE: All these strikers were considered the best in the world at some point of time. Here are the results: 1. Diego Costa (Spain, Atlético Madrid): 461 apps, 185 goals (0.40 goals per game) 2. Gonzalo Higuaín (Argentina, AC Milan) 645 apps, 320 goals (0.49 goals per game) 3. Karim Benzema (France, Real Madrid) 682 apps, 310 goals (0.46 goals per game) 4. Sergio Agüero (Argentina, Manchester City) 688 apps, 374 goals (0.54 goals per game) 5. Radamel Falcao (Colombia, AS Monaco) 533 apps, 294 goals (0.55 goals per game) 6. Edinson Cavani (Uruguay, PSG) 652 apps, 379 goals (0.58 goals per game) 7. Robert Lewandowski (Poland, Bayern Munich) 648 apps, 404 goals (0.62 goals per game) 8. Luis Suárez (Uruguay, Barcelona) 685 apps, 436 goals (0.64 goals per game) Pretty impressive figures, huh? Truly numbers of any world class centre forward!! Now, let's look at the stats of two players who never played centre forward at all (technically, Ronaldo has been playing that position for the last four seasons, but let's leave it for another time): Cristiano Ronaldo: 935 apps, 669 goals (0.72 goals per game) Lionel Messi: 835 apps, 659 goals (0.79 goals per game) Just imagine!! Two players who've never played as true centre forwards have better figures than the players who are considered the best in the world!! Enjoy them both while they're still here, please! RESPECT GOATs
